Jefferson Parish

The marker is named ‘Jefferson Highway’. It commemorates the Jefferson Highway, completed on February 4, 1926. The highway, also known as the “Pine to Palm” route, was one of the first intercontinental highways, extending 2,194 miles from Winnipeg, Canada, through Jefferson, ending in New Orleans at St. Charles Ave. and Common St. The marker notes that parts of the highway are still called Jefferson Highway. The highway was named for U.S. President Thomas Jefferson.

This marker was erected in 2010 by the Jefferson Historical Society of Louisiana.
