The Jefferson Historical Society, in partnership with the Jefferson Parish Historical Commission, is proud to host and co-sponsor several key annual events that celebrate our rich local heritage. You can find specific dates and details for all our upcoming events on our calendar page.
Our main annual events include the Founders’ Day Banquet, which commemorates the establishment of the Parish of Jefferson in 1825. Each April, we hold the Thomas Jefferson Wreath Ceremony to honor Jefferson’s birth. And every fall, we celebrate Camp Parapet Day near the last remaining Civil War fortification in the New Orleans area. In addition to these annual gatherings, we also assist the Commission with the unveiling of new Louisiana historic highway markers, highlighting significant sites across Jefferson Parish.
We invite you to check our calendar page and join us in exploring and preserving the vibrant history that defines our community!
